    Under the new taxation policy of the Goods and Services Tax, all people and businesses involved in the supply of goods or services are required to obtain a registration of GST to conduct business. Those who are not registered under the GST Act shall not be allowed to receive the benefit of collecting GST from end customers or claim an input tax credit (ITC) on their inward supply. The GST Council has prescribed Rupees 20 Lakhs of the business’ turnover to be the limit for registration under GST, which means, you are to register yourself as soon as you reach this level of earnings. On the other hand, for northeastern states, this limit has been set to Rupees 10 Lakhs.

    How Do I Check My GST Registration Eligibility?

    You need to get registered under the GST Act:

    If Your Turnover Exceeds 20 or 10 Lakh

    If your company or business’s aggregate turnover is more than Rupees 20 Lakhs in India and Rupees 10 Lakh in the North Eastern States of India, GST registration is mandatory and should be obtained within 30 days of reaching that threshold.

    If Your Conduct/ Provide Inter-state Sales and Services

    If you participate in the supply of goods or provision of services to clients based in another state, then you need to obtain a GST registration before beginning any interstate trade, regardless of the business’s turnover.

    Mandatory Registration

    It is mandatory to register under GST irrespective of the business’s turnover – for a casual taxable person, one who needs to pay taxes on RCM, non-resident taxable persons, an input service distributor, or e-commerce operator.

    An ARN is generated after the submission of your application on the GST website with all necessary information and the required documents.
